"One Night of Queen" at McCarter Theater, Princeton, NJ 5/15/10

This shot was taken after the show ended. The crew and the band, frolicked on stage to Queen music, obviously. They were dancing and goofing around. Fun to watch. They were moving so much that the camera got this cool shot. Well, I think it's cool.

I didn't get any pictures with him wearing a top. Cameras were forbidden but, I saw other people sneaking in shots so I did too. Gary had everyone up and dancing and singing.

Shots are fuzzy due to me sneaking the camera and also constant movement on stage.

Anyway, fuzzy tho they may be, you get the idea. I was pleased to have gotten some shots.

The mike, which was clearly phalic, was placed between his legs quite often. A Freddy move, hello!

Gary Mullen and Me sans makeup. haha As if I usually wear makeup.

"One Night of Queen" ROCKED!!!!! Can't believe they came to Princeton. This was the last show of their US tour. The audience ranged from 9 to 10 yr. olds to folks in their 70s. It was like Freddy Mercury incarnate. Gary Mullen, the singer, had the moves down to a T. He sounds like Freddy, however, he doesn't quite hit the voice range. Very close though. All in all, the show was awesome and I was so glad I went to see it. Couldn't talk Anita into coming with me. She said if it isn't the real deal, then she's not interested. Her loss! Since it was the last night of the tour, programs were only $1. Gary signed autographs after the show and clearly loves chatting with his fans. I met him and had my picture taken with him. Ironically, the first scheduled show was cancelled due to Iceland's volcanic ash. We discussed that and he said it was the most unusual reason a show was ever cancelled. I wished him a safe trip home. And he said, "If we are able to fly home." I'm just watching the news and learned that flights to England and Ireland are cancelled. Gary Mullen and The Works could very well be grounded in the US. Awesome show, I'd see it again in a heart beat!

Appearance of an Adult Rabbit Yesterday 5-14-10

An adult rabbit appeared in our yard yesterday. This is the first sighting. No signs of the bunnies though. I think it's the mom of the babies. Anita thinks it's Chubs, the largest of the babies. There's no way Chubs could have grown to be that big already. I wish we could see the babies, if any survived. The picture is fuzzy since I took it through the screen and with the sun shining at the camera.

Planted a Butterfly Bush 5-14-10 Going to Track it's Progress

In hopes of attracting butterflies this summer, we planted a butterfly bush. I plan to also buy some milkweed and plant mint and dill near the bush since they are reputed to attract butterflies. I'm also hoping that we can attract goldfinch with a finch food feeder. So far nothing. It would be awesome if hummingbirds would find our yard but, I'm not getting my hopes up for that. It's going to take a while for there to be enough flowers to attract anything. (Finch feeder was a bust. The squirrels ate the seeds. Gave up on hopes of attracting finches. 6/9/10)

Crazy Windstorm on Tuesday 5/4/10 - Tree Down

There was this crazy windstorm a couple of days ago. Almost like a mini tornado. I was standing at my kitchen sink when I saw a tree come down from the neighbor's yard across the road. Well actually it turned out to be half of the tree. Split right down the middle. The tree completely blocked the street. When the township came to cut up the tree, I was amazed at how quickly the worker did the job. The wind storm was freaky. I met the neighbor who owns the tree. She said the rest of the tree needs to come down. It was amazing how the tree company worker rapelled the rope until, as you can see, he was at the top of the last tall branch, working his way down until he cut to the bottom. There always seems to be entertainment around here. Either that or I'm easily entertained. haha My friend Mary Ann reminded me that there seems to always be trees falling down around me lately. The next door neighbor has a dead tree in their front yard that is slowly weakening with all of the winds. It's truly a skeleton. If it comes down, it should miss our house. Thank God!

The New Mower - Old Fashion Type, Great for Exercise.

We found an old fashion type lawnmower, just what we were looking for. Our landlord is completely fascinated that the lawnmower cuts as well as it does that he's telling all of his friends about it. He tried it out himself when he saw how nice the lawn looked. Anita put most of it together with help from Antonio. Anita also mowed the whole lawn after Antonio and I tried out the mower. What a trooper. Anita is really strong. Great job Anita! Antonio was the trim person and also did a good job. I supervised. haha

The Fire Pit - This is Living!!!!!

The fire pit. Yeaaaa! I'm loving it. That's what I call living.

I was mesmerized by the circle in the flame on the left.

Ahhhh. A fire pit, a glass of wine, family and laughs as we tried to guess the answers to brain teasers. Perfect together.

The best toasted marshmellows are the ones that looked like a torch before they were eaten.

Gotta love the smile. Great family time around the fire pit.
I've wanted a fire pit for a couple of years. I'm in heaven. It's the greatest living on one level and being able to walk outside to the backyard where I feel like I'm camping. Seriously. I've got the pine trees, the hammock, the picnic table, the fire pit, even have a tent if I wanted to pitch it for the fun of it. Now I've got to get down to Atco, to my son's house, to collect some more firewood. All I have now is fresh cut wood that I collected from the township after the big storm that felled so many tress. Greg, I'll be coming down to load up.

The New Home - Finally took some pictures

Looking out at the street from the far end of the yard. There's a hammock and a picnic table. Antonio quickly decided to claim the hammock.

I took a picture of the gum balls. This is what covered the yard when we moved in. What a headache they were. They continue to fall whenever it rains or is windy.

The pansies on my patio, a house warming gift from a friend.

The back yard. We're getting ready to plant a butterfly bush.

Looking at the back of the house from the far end. The patio is small but I enjoy sitting out there.

The front of the house. When we moved in, the entire yard was covered with gum balls from the sweet gum ball trees. Some idiot decided the street needed them. We have three in our yard. That was a major project raking them all. Stacy did most of it. That's also when we found the bunny nest. It was under a pile of gum balls that we hadn't cleaned up yet.

We moved into a house on March 1, 2010. I love the back fenced in yard and the fact that I have a driveway and a little patio. Also, it's all on the ground floor. No stairs to lug groceries. Great neighbors! This is a very "old Princeton" neighborhood with most of the neighbors near me being older Italian folks. They're all so sweet. I'm kind of hoping that they share the bounty of their gardens with us this summer. One thing about our streets, as we are on the corner. There are so many people walking by all day long with their dogs. When we put Sophia outside, she tends to psycho bark a lot. Mostly at the bicycles and the dogs. Sometimes, it gets so busy that my quiet time, when sitting outside, isn't always so quiet. All in all, we love the new home and are happy that we found this location.
