Took The Long Way Home After Dropping My Sister at the Airport - 10/13/10

After dropping Maureen at the AC airport, I drove home by heading north from Atlantic City on an adventure to see what I might find. It was a long drive, I ventured in and out of roads looking for nature areas and other interesting sites. Overdid it 'cause my right leg cramped up along the way, I had to stop and pull over, get out of the truck and stretch the leg. Then I headed on up to Ocean Grove and had a pleasant day. Walking was what the doctor ordered.

This gull landed really close to me on the railing on the pier.

Signs on a fence when entering Asbury Park.

The Stone Pony where Bruce Springsteen got his start and often still visits. Mike Posner tour bus is parked on the street. I didn't really know who he is so I came home and looked him up on the Internet.

I liked this store decoration but the glare from the sun makes it hard to see. I can see me in the reflection.

Towels as curtains.

Lone jelly fish.

Shells 'n stuff.

Shoe feet, barefoot prints and seagull prints.

An autumn leaf washed up by the ocean.

I was telling Maureen about the pretty, tiny cottages in Ocean Grove. Maur, these are for you. A couple are in here just 'cause I like them and are not necessarily tiny. Enjoy!

I love the curtains on the porch. Autumn is a great time to wander around Ocean Grove.

Halloween time.

This was the tiniest of all.

A new sighting for me at Ocean Grove. Great place for taking pictures.

This old guy sits at the end of the pier at the fishing club section.

Dog prints.

I witnessed a burial at sea. Legally, I don't think it's supposed to be this close to the beach. Maybe the person wanted to become one with the beach. The boat pulled up, a lady waved to the folks standing at the end of the pier. She tossed the ashes, waved again and then the boat pulled away. I guess you can do it if no one who has authority sees you.

Lifeguard stands all lined up. Stored for the winter. Another picture for my lined up series.

Seemingly random champagne bottle on the side of the road as I wandered up the highway. First interesting thing I found after I dropped Maureen off at the airport.

This flag is hanging in the Atlantic City airport. An officer was telling me that there is a web site that tells the story and has more pictures. It's the names of the responders, who died, from Sept. 11, 2001 on the flag. Spotted this before leaving the airport.
